# $DIFO Buy & Sell Fees

**The $DIFO buy and sell fees are a critical component of the DP**. They provide capital for the protocol's critical functions. Other protocols sell bonds to support the same functions as $DIFO fees, but we believe that approach is riskier because if bonds are not purchased, the token can lose support and spiral downward in price, as we have seen with a number of these bond-based protocols. Token holders must pay a fee to sell bonds. It reduces the amount of APY available and eliminates the ability to provide a stable APY. The fees (***5% for buys*** and ***30% for sells***) allow $DIFO holders to earn a consistently high yield of ***200,000%*** per year.
